What are the current standings?
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional men’s basketball league in North America, composed of 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada). It is widely considered to be the premier men’s professional basketball league in the world.
The NBA was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). The BAA’s inaugural season featured 11 teams, and each team played 60 games. At the end of the regular season, the Eastern and Western Division champions met in the NBA Finals. In 1949, following merger talks between the BAA and the National Basketball League (NBL), which was created in 1937, the NBA was formed. The new league adopted parts of both leagues’ rules: using a biannual draft to encourage parity, a board of governors to supervise league operations, and counting player fouls toward personal fouls out instead of having a team foul limit. With only seventeenNBA franchises located in small markets throughout North America at that time, Commissioner Maurice Podoloff proposed an active expansion campaign to rival Major League Baseball’s growth after World War II.
In 1950, six new teams were added: three former NBL franchises—the Minneapolis Lakers, Rochester Royals (now the Sacramento Kings), and Fort Wayne Pistons—as well as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks (now the Atlanta Hawks), Indianapolis Olympians, and Sheboygan Redskins. A year later, when five more NBL franchises—the Syracuse Nationals (now the Philadelphia 76ers), Anderson Packers (disbanded in 1955), Waterloo Hawks (now also Atlanta Hawks), Denver Nuggets (now also defunct),and Pittsburgh Ironmen(disbanded in 1946)—joined what had become known as simply “the NBA”, bringing its total number of franchises to seventeen.
Who are the leading scorers?
There are a lot of great players in the NBA, but who are the leading scorers? Here are a few of the top players in the league right now.
Who are the leading rebounders?
There are a number of different factors that go into deciding who the leading rebounders are in the NBA. A few of the most important ones include the player’s height, weight, and position. Another big factor is the player’s team and how well they are performing. Finally, the style of play can also impact things. Some players are just better at getting rebounds than others.
Who are the leading assistors?
In the National Basketball Association, the leading assistors are the players who average the most assists per game. The statistic is tracked by the NBA and is important to consider when looking at a player’s offensive production. During the 2019-20 season, Russell Westbrook of the Houston Rockets led the league in assists per game, averaging 10.7 assists over the course of the season. He was followed by Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, who averaged 9.3 assists per game.
