When is NBA 2K22 coming out?

It’s official: NBA 2K22 will release on September 7, 2021. The news was first announced during a special Livestream event on May 24, which also saw the reveal of the game’s cover star: Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans.

This will mark the first time in the history of the NBA 2K franchise that a release date has been announced this far in advance. Normally, publisher 2K Games waits until much closer to launch to share a date, so the fact that we know NBA 2K22 is coming out in September is a pretty big deal.

Interestingly, this is also the earliest in the year that an NBA 2K game has ever been released. Usually, they come out in late October or early November, but it looks like 2K is looking to get a jump on the competition this time around. There’s no word yet on whether this means we can expect an earlier than usual demo release, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Along the way, you’ll be able to make important choices that will shape your player’s career – including which team to sign with and how to handle endorsements.

Of course, no basketball game would be complete without multiplayer modes. NBA 2K22 will feature both 5-on-5 online multiplayer and 3-on-3 “The Neighborhood” games. There will also be a new co-op mode called “The City” which allows players to team up and compete against other player-created teams.
